Kyegegwa commemorates World disabilities day
Lillian Kembabazi, working with Humanity and Inclusion, an organization looking after persons with disabilities in Kyaka 2 refugee camp in Kyegegwa district says that in most cases, people with disabilities are not given equal opportunities which is why she is rallying the district leaders to fight for their rights. Some of the refugees we talked to at Kyaka 2 refugee camp narrated some of the challenges they go through due to having a disability.
In 1992 the United Nations passed a resolution to celebrate the life of people with disabilities and it is said that said 15 percent of the world population have disabilities on their body.
John Nyandera the district councilor of people with disabilities Kyegegwa district has urged parents to stop segregating children with disabilities.
World day of people with disabilities is celebrated every third of December every year and this year's theme is Leadership mid set change a tool for development.
