Leaders Grieve Last: Justice Mike Chibita Turns Pain Into Purpose
In an emotional yet deeply inspiring event, Supreme Court Judge Justice Mike Chibita officially launched his new book titled “Leaders Grieve Last: Facing Loss, Death and Grief.”
The book delves into the often-silent struggles of leaders navigating personal loss—a heartfelt journey through pain that validates grief while inspiring hope, healing, and purposeful living with every day God gives.
The launch, held at the Grand Imperial Hotel, brought together leaders, clergy, family, and friends in a spirit of reflection and thanksgiving.
Justice Chibita shared that “Leaders Grieve Last” explores how leaders must manage grief differently, staying composed even in moments of deep sorrow. He reflected on his own experiences, including the loss of his grandmother 50 years ago, examining how grief has evolved over generations. He urged Christians to grieve with hope, trusting that those who die in faith will one day be reunited with their loved ones.
Prof. Ezra Surama who served as the Guest of Honour at the launching event, described the launch as “a wonderful experience filled with testimonies of faith and comfort,” reminding believers that life is not merely physical but spiritual. Quoting John 5:24, he emphasized that death affects only the body our true life is eternal in Christ.
Samantha Kakuru An environmental advocate reflected on the continuity of life, saying it is a straight line where people join and leave, but it stretches into eternity. She encouraged the audience not to mourn without hope, because while death ends physical life, legacies live on through love and memory.
Justice David Makumbi reminded those present that “grief never ends but changes it’s a passage, not a destination, and not a sign of weakness, but the price of love.”
Beyond the pages, Justice Mike Chibita’s message stands firm true leadership is not measured by power or position, but by the courage to embrace humanity, faith, and empathy even in the face of loss.
In reminding us that even leaders grieve, Justice Chibita invites the world to rediscover strength not by avoiding pain but by finding purpose through it.
