Luweero Town Council Donates 250 Desks To Government Aided Schools

In a bid to improve students’ welfare among schools in Luweero, Luweero Town Council has donated 250 desks to 6 government-aided schools to help improve students' learning environment.

This follows a recent general outcry from various head teachers throughout the district complaining about the unbearable learning environment resulting from the inadequate sitting materials in schools majorly in government schools.

In a bid to improve pupils' learning environment among schools in Luweero, the Town Council has distributed over 250 desks to 6 schools to improve pupils' welfare. The students’ grades have been deteriorating due to some circumstances like a lack of desks to sit on while attending classes.

Six schools including St Jude primary school, Luweero Boys Primary School, and St Jude Kyegombwa among others have benefited with each school receiving 50 desks.

Headteachers disclosed the challenges they go through outlining the overwhelming school population vis-a-vis the required materials.

According to Assistant Town Clerk Luwero Town Council  Esther Zawedde,  the Town Council has endorsed 250 desks to 6 schools due to the alarming situation of pupils' learning environment especially in government schools.

Luweero Town Council Mayor Chris John Buwembo who led the team from the Town Council disclosed the reason behind this drive. He also expressed his concern over the state of government-aided schools.

Luweero district has a total of over 230 government-aided schools but one of the major challenges faced by these schools is the inadequate sitting materials which has complicated the pupils' learning environment.

It's upon these grounds that the town Council authorities decided to embark on a strategy with the intention of curbing the alarming situation.
