Luwero Diocese Launches Good Samaritan Office

Luwero Diocese Launches Good Samaritan Office

Luwero Diocese has officially launched the Good Samaritan Office, an initiative aimed at supporting the less privileged within the diocese, which covers the districts of Luwero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola. Speaking about the initiative, Rev. Can. Eric Ssebigajju, the Diocese Secretary, called upon Christians to join hands in supporting the newly opened Good Samaritan office, emphasizing that God blesses cheerful givers and that helping those in need aligns with Christian values.

Rev. Ssebigajju highlighted the historical challenges faced by the region, particularly the impact of the 1980s war, which left many residents in poverty, confirming that the diocese often receives individuals seeking help but is sometimes limited in its ability to assist.

According to Rev. Maureen Sserwanga, who oversees the office, the response has been overwhelming in just two months of operation, with even retired clergy members returning to the diocese for assistance.

The Diocese officials disclosed this while receiving a donation of office chairs, a file cabinet, and bed sheets for the elderly from Mary Sendi, a devoted Christian from Mugongo Parish in Kyengera.

Mary commended the diocese for the initiative and urged fellow Christians to follow her example in supporting the office.

The Diocese remains hopeful that more Christians and well-wishers will come forward to strengthen the Good Samaritan Office in fulfilling its mission of serving the needy and transforming lives.
