CONSLATA TAAKA
The authorities in Luwero district are currently searching for the culprits who unlawfully entered the district offices during the night and made off with various items, such as computers, documents, and other valuable equipment. These managed to break into several departmental offices, including those of the CAO, RDC, and LC 5 Chairperson.
Police took over the scene, and it is temporarily out of bounds, Canines were also introduced as investigations proceeded to ascertain the actual cause.
Yesterday morning, Luwero district workers and locals that had come to seek services were shocked to find their headquarters sealed off by police following the news of thugs breaking into offices during the night.
Among the offices that have been tampered with are the Resident District Commissioner's Office, the Chief Administrative Officer's office, the LC 5 Chairperson's office, Commercial, ICT, Probations, and various others. There is suspicion that certain documents and computers may have been stolen.
The district's security officer on duty last night, Alex Vuko, reported that an individual approached him around 8:30 before the incident, seeking access to the notice board for information. However, he declined the request.
Following his denial of entry, Vuko recounted how the unfamiliar man retrieved a handkerchief from his pocket and covered his nose with it, leading Vuko to suspect it was laced with chloroform. Despite a scuffle, Vuko began to lose focus until he succumbed to unconsciousness.
The incident has been confirmed by District Police Commander John Ojokuna, who mentioned that investigations are underway. The offices are currently inaccessible, and no arrests have been made in connection with the robbery.
Ojokuna has emphasized the importance of district leaders treating this situation as a wake-up call to enhance security measures at the headquarters.
It is the second time that criminals have broken into the Luwero district headquarters. It is important to highlight that in June of last year, thieves targeted the Bukalasa land office and made off with important documents.
