Man Accused Of Carrying 6 Stolen Cows In A Toyota Wish Car.

Security in Hoima district have rescued a 30 year old man from being killed by a mob after he was caught carrying 6 suspected stolen cows in a Toyota wish car in Kipapati village in Kitoba sub-county.

The rescued man has been identified as Bosco Byabasaijja, a resident of Kibyana village in the Kitoba sub-county in Hoima district.

The Kipapati village vice-chairperson Lydia Atuhura said Byabasaijja's luck ran after the residents allegedly found him with five other people in the bush near his home at Kibyana village in the Kitoba offloading six cows from a Toyota Wish car whose registration is yet to be established.

She added that as the angry residents approached the suspect's home, his accomplices fled with the car. However, the residents managed to arrest two suspects.

Atuhura said as the residents tried to arrest Byabasaijja, he allegedly turned violent, picked a panga and threatened to harm any person that would attempt to move close to him.

After the incident, security personnel, led by Hoima deputy Resident District Commissioner Michael Kyakashari were informed and rushed to the scene, and rescued Byabasaija from being killed by a mob.

Kyakashari said there is growing concern over the increased theft of livestock in the district, which he said is subjecting the farmers to poverty.

He added that security has intensified operations to deal with livestock thieves and hoped that Byabasaijja will help the Police to identify other suspects.

The suspect is receiving treatment for the hack wounds at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital where he was admitted.
