With less than two weeks now left to the Martyrs Day celebrations, the bishop of Bukedi Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Samuel Bogere Egesa has camped at the Namugongo Anglican Site to oversee the preparations.
Bishop Egesa, who is the Leader of the Easter Cluster of ten (10) Dioceses that are leading the preparations, said that the Anglican site is expecting to host over 40,000 pilgrims for the Martyrs Day celebrations on 03rd June 2023.
When the COU Family TV team visited the Anglican site to check on the progress of the preparations for Martyrs Day, it was a beehive of activity, with less than two weeks now to the big day
The Bishop of Bukedi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Samuel Egesa, who is the leader of the Easter Cluster of ten (10) Dioceses that are leading the preparations for the Martyrs Day celebrations at the Anglian Site said that all is moving well. He told Christians to hope for the best on the D-Day 03rd June 2023 and expect an extraordinary event at the newly reconstructed and expanded amphitheater.
All the 10 Bishops of the Eastern Cluster are members of the Central Organising Committee chaired by Rebecca Kadaga, the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs.
We spoke to the bishop of Kumi Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Micheal Esakan Okwii who was also at Namugongo overseeing the preparations. He gave assurance that everything was moving on smoothly.
The Rev. Can. Micheal Wasswa, the Vice Principal of Uganda Martyrs Seminary Namugongo, urged Christians planning to attend the celebrations to be security conscious because some people come to Namugongo not to praise and worship but with other ill motives. He rallied the faithful to watch COU Family TV to get all the latest updates about Martyrs Day and also tune in on 03rd June 2023, in case they cannot make it to Namugongo.
