
Middle East Meets Africa: Uganda To Host Landmark Digital Summit
Uganda is to host the 2025 edition of the Summit, which is being co-organized by the COMESA Business Council, Ministry of ICT & National Guidance and Hi-Pipo, a leading entity in ICT and financial inclusion in Africa.
According to hon dr Chris baryomunsi the Middle East Africa –Digital Summit, 2025, is in line with Uganda’s Vision 2040, East African Community Vision 2050, Africa Agenda, 2063 with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The summit will explore emerging technologies for sustainable and impactful development.
The pearl of Africa is set-to host a landmark digital summit, bringing together experts and stakeholders from east and central Africa that promises to bring transformation in the region’s technology industry under the theme driving Digital Transformation for a Connected and Inclusive MEA Region.
Speaking to the journalists today at Uganda media center, the state minister for ICT / National guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi stated that the government shall have sessions on wide-ranging sub-themes like emerging digital innovations, artificial intelligence, block-chain, ICTs for smart cities among others.
According to hon Baryomunsi, government is dedicated to leveraging technology to drive economic growth and improve the lives of citizens
He furthermore encouraged Ugandans to bear with the government as they work towards making internet accessible and more affordable for all with ongoing efforts to reduce costs and improve connectivity.
