Minister Adoa Pledges To Improve Food Nutrition In Schools

Church of Uganda, Soroti diocese has celebrated International Children’s day which was initially recognized worldwide as November 19th.
The celebrations were held at Soroti Independence Gardens in Soroti city and the province of Church of Uganda dedicated the month of November as a month to create awareness about children rights and responsibilities.

The event started with procession on the streets while the diocesan Secretary Samuel Ediau was a chief walker.
The Theme for this year is a united Society Free from Child Violence.
Minister Adoa and MP Omoding donated a total of two million shillings contributing one million shillings each towards the celebrations.

Member of Parliament for Serere County, Emmanuel Omoding represented the State Minister for Fisheries Hellen Adoa as the chief guest at the function.
In the message read by MP Emmanuel Omoding Okabe, the state minister for fisheries Hellen Adoa Abeku pledged to improve food nutrition in schools around the area.
Hon Adoa pointed out that Uganda needs to have sustainable lakes in order to have enough mature fish for nutrition of the children.
She noted that schools should be able to change diet rather than feeding children on one diet only.

MP Omoding emphasized that children should be able to eat healthy foods so that their brains function well.
He pointed out that his religious background paved a way for him in life and thanked the church for nurturing children in a Godly manner.

Diocesan Secretary Church of Uganda, Soroti Rev. Samuel Ediau noted that most schools do not feed their children and the pupils stay on empty stomachs during lunch time.

Rev. Ediau urged parents, guardians and the community at large to protect their children and raise them in a Godly way.
He said children must be protected and natured.
