Minister Babalanda To RDCS, RCCS – ‘Intensify Monitoring of Government Projects’: Directive Issued as Government Seeks to Improve Accountability. Ensure Value for Public Resources.

The minister for the presidency has called on resident district commissioners and resident city commissioners to strengthen monitoring of government programs and projects across the country.

Addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Centre, the minister said stronger supervision is needed to fight corruption, improve service delivery, and ensure government investments benefit Ugandans.

The minister for the presidency has sighted corruption, negligence, and weak supervision among the priority challenges affecting implementation of government programs while addressing the fourth estate at the media center today.

She says public resources are meant to deliver tangible results for citizens, warning that abandoned projects, poor workmanship, and misuse of funds will not be tolerated.

The minister directed resident district commissioners and resident city commissioners to closely monitor government projects from planning, procurement, and implementation stages up to completion.

She urged commissioners to maintain updated records on projects, highlighting progress, challenges, and interventions needed to address implementation gaps.

She also called for stronger action against corruption, including procurement fraud, ghost projects, bribery, and abuse of office. The minister urged RDCs and RCCs to display anti-corruption hotlines at their offices to enable citizens to report cases of misuse of public resources.

On the Parish Development Model, the minister said her office will soon conduct monitoring visits across the country to assess implementation progress and ensure funds are used for productive activities.

She emphasized proper land utilization through the President’s Four-Acre Model, which promotes productive agriculture to increase household incomes and improve livelihoods.

The minister commended public servants who have helped expose corruption but warned that those who fail to deliver on their responsibilities will face appropriate action.

She called on citizens to support the fight against corruption by reporting cases of misuse of public resources and poor service delivery.
