Ministry Of Health Advances In The Fight Against Malaria

The ministry of health has commissioned anti-malarial drugs to fight against malaria in the country.

Ahead of the overwhelming malarial outbreak in the country, the ministry of health in partnership with the private investors have today, commissioned drugs worth 18 million Ugandan shillings to be supplied in government hospitals to treat malaria.

The private sector which include Astra pharma, Medivin limited have donated anti-malarial medicine to the ministry of health.

These were welcomed by the commissioner of National Drug Control, Patrick Tusiime who thanked the partners for joining hands to fight malaria which he said is threat to the nation.

Tusiime further noted that the campaign against malaria will commence from Kakumiro district where the supply of drugs will begin from ahead of the National Resistance Day Celebrations in Kakumiro.

Tusiime concluded by calling upon all responsible stakeholders to take charge in the fight against malaria.

Malaria kills about 400 Ugandans every year with the highest number of deaths registered in bugisu region, Busoga and west Nile.
