MOES seeks to strengthen inclusive education
The Ministry of Education and Sports has called upon all education stakeholders to contribute towards inclusive education in the country as a measure to achieve quality education.
The call was made during a two day symposium at Silver Springs hotel that ended today where the ministry was meeting several stakeholders to find ways on how to achieve conclusive education for all.
During the two-day education symposium held at Silver Springs hotel this morning, stake holders called for the discovery of learners’ talents in order to get the best out of them as opposed to teaching a curriculum which doesn’t appeal to the learner’s abilities.
Special Needs Quality Assurance and Monitoring Initiative Chief Executive Officer, Professor Paul Nguki notes that so far, government has tremendously moved the inclusive education journey well through eh Universal Primary Education, Universal Secondary Education and the new lower secondary curriculum.
The Assistant Commissioner in charge of Special Needs at the Ministry of Education Dr. Sarah Ayesiga explains that this being the 2nd inclusive education symposium, there has been progress through awareness, togetherness and harmonization from the 1st symposium that happened last year.
The symposium was held under the theme,’ Inclusive Education: A journey to sustainable development.’
