MPs Have Shown Displeasure Over Ag’s Advice Against Anti Homo Sexuality Bill
Members of the NRM caucus have questioned the intention and motive of the deputy attorney general, Jackson Kafuzi following his advice to the President against signing the anti-homosexuality bill
The MPs have since been called to the NRM caucus to discuss the same.
They believe the Attorney General should have instead raised his concerns during the process of passing the same bill.
Business at parliament has been cut to half a day as members of the NRM caucus prepared for the caucus meeting with the president.
The MPs were summoned to discuss among others the anti-homosexuality bill which was passed by the same house over a month ago and sent to the president to sign into law.
The meeting comes at a time the deputy attorney general is said to have written to the president advising him not to sign the bill into law.
Legislators question the attorney general's intention and motive for the advice.
Meetings of this nature have at times been followed by controversial bills and motions like the removal of the presidential term limits among others.
Legislators have vowed not to coil to any pressure that promotes homosexuality in the country
The anti-homosexuality bill has stringent punishments like life imprisonment and death sentence for those caught on the wrong side of the law.
The bill has since been criticized by foreigners from especially Europe who asked the president not to sign it into law.
