Mutebile Memorial Golf Tournament

Golfers have paid tribute to the deceased former Governor of Bank of Uganda, Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile.

Mutebile who passed away on 23rd January 2022 was an active member and patron of Kabale Sports Club.

Over the weekend, golfers from different parts of Uganda and neighbouring Rwanda participated in the Professor Mutebile Memorial Golf tournament organized by the Tumusiime Mutebile Foundation at Kabale golf Course.

Kigezi Highland Tea Company sponsored the tournament in partnership with the Bank of Uganda and the International Community of Banyakigezi.

Robert Bugabo of Kabale sports club said that the late Mutebile sponsored a tournament every 27th of January during his birthday. He also sponsored the youth for different tournaments and contributed to the expansion of the Kabale golf course. He planned to construct a new clubhouse.

Bugabo said that the first anniversary of the Professor Mutebile Memorial golf tournament registered an impressive turn up as compared to other tournaments.

The awards ceremony and dinner was held at the White Horse Inn Kabale. The Kabale Sports Club appealed to stakeholders, especially Bank of Uganda to help them in completing some of projects the late Mutebile had planned.

Mutebile’s family members and friends appreciated Kabale Sports Club for recognizing his achievements as the patron of Kabale Sports Club.                                               

Emmanuel Kamugisha was the overall winner for men with Handicap 7 and a gross of 74 While Meron Kyomugisha won the ladies category with handicap 9 and a gross of 75. Both winners are from Kabale Sports Club. The Executive Director of Uganda Industrial Research Institute, Professor Charles Kwesiga succeeded the late Mutebile as the patron of the Kabale Sports Club. Mutebile served for about seven years.
