Nakasero Market Poor Hygiene Affects Vendors Business

Nakasero Market Poor Hygiene Affects Vendors Business

Vendors and traders of the Nakasero market have raised concern over the state of cleanliness of the market, saying that it has affected their sales.

However, the traders are happy that Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has made some effort to have the market cleaner compared to last year.

The traders have also claimed that there is no clear leadership in the market.

Kasigwa Shafic who has been a vendor in Nakasero Market for a number of years says poor hygiene at the market has affected his sales. He explained that because he deals in perishable goods, they easily rot leaving him in losses.

Kasigwa claims that on many occasions, garbage remains uncollected for more than three days and this has limited the number of customers who buy from him since he operates in an unclean environment.

However, on the day COU Family TV visited the market, we found a KCCA Garbage truck collecting garbage and the traders said it was commendable and hoped it happens more often.

The traders also appealed to the KCCA Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka to help them bring in new leadership within the market of Nakasero Market.
