Nakasongola Residents Praise Government For New Kasozi Bridge

Residents of Nakasongola District are hailing the government following the completion of the Kasozi Bridge a transformative infrastructure project that now links their community to neighbouring Nakaseke District.

The long-awaited bridge, which cost 43 billion shillings and was constructed by China Communications Construction Company, has significantly boosted local transport and trade.

The bridge, which cost 43 billion shillings, was constructed by the China Communications Construction Company (CCC) and includes a modern road network linking the two districts.

The project began in 2020 and is now fully complete, awaiting official commissioning by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who continues with his nationwide campaigns, and yesterday he was soliciting support in the districts of Maracha and Koboko. Among the key issues he is emphasizing on is the construction of modern roads in various parts of the country.

During the tour of government projects in Nakasongola, State House officials led by Director Mobilization Robert Rwakandare inspected the bridge and commended the impact it has brought to the community.

Residents say that before the bridge was built, they suffered greatly crossing the swamp by boats while risking attacks from hippos. Today, they can easily transport goods such as milk and bananas to various markets, improving their household incomes.

The NRM Chairperson for Nakitoma Sub- County, John Kazoora, applauded the government for constructing the bridge, describing it as a lifeline that connects communities and strengthens trade between the two districts.

Meanwhile, Robert Rwakandare urged residents to use the new infrastructure to expand their sources of income, noting that the government’s aim is to uplift livelihoods and promote development across the country.

He further encouraged the people of Nakasongola to continue supporting President Museveni’s leadership, saying that through his guidance, many projects like the Kasozi Bridge have transformed rural areas.

Residents have now called on the President to personally visit and officially commission the bridge a moment they say will mark a new chapter of progress for their district.
