The Mothers’ Union of Namirembe Diocese 'has held a special thanksgiving and prayer service at the site of its proposed building project, marking a significant milestone in the recovery and redevelopment of a property that had been at the center of a prolonged dispute for more than five years.

Church leaders hailed the women for their resilience, patience, and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the church despite the setbacks that stalled the project.

For more than five years, construction of the Namirembe Diocesan Mothers’ Union building remained at a standstill following disagreements between the contractor and the Mothers’ Union. The dispute later escalated into a court case in Kampala, creating uncertainty over the future of the project and delaying its completion.

Following the recent resolution of the matter, members of the Mothers’ Union from across Namirembe Diocese gathered at the site for a thanksgiving and prayer service, celebrating what they described as a victory of faith, perseverance, and unity.

The service was led by Rev. Stephen Lumu Lwase, who commended the women for remaining steadfast throughout the lengthy dispute and for refusing to lose hope despite the challenges surrounding the property.

Rev. Lwase encouraged members to continue trusting in God as preparations for the resumption of construction gather momentum, expressing confidence that the long-awaited project will finally become a reality.

He further applauded the Mothers’ Union for its continued contribution to church development, noting that the women’s dedication and support have been instrumental in strengthening ministry work and advancing the mission of the diocese.

Speaking at the event, Roseline Bingi Kawiiso, president of the Mothers’ Union, described the project as a symbol of perseverance, determination, and collective commitment to building a lasting legacy for future generations.

She revealed that construction works are expected to resume within the coming weeks and appealed to church members, well-wishers, and development partners to support efforts aimed at raising the remaining funds required to complete the project.

Bingi noted that the facility will play a critical role in strengthening the work of the Mothers’ Union by providing a permanent home for its programs, meetings, training sessions, and administrative activities.

Once completed, the building is expected to serve as a vibrant center for ministry, leadership development, community engagement, and fellowship, further enhancing the Mothers’ Union’s contribution to the mission and growth of the church.
