National Economic Empowerment Dialogue Calls For Women’s Empowerment Ahead Of Women’s Day Commemoration

Women leaders in the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue Political Party have rallied Ugandan leaders to embrace an inclusive system of governance of all people at all levels including women as an initiative to achieve social economic transformation.

The women were speaking to journalists ahead of the Wednesday Women’s day celebrations at the party headquarters in Lubaga this morning as John Jimmy Musimbi reports.

International Women's Day is celebrated on 8th March annually. In Uganda, the theme for this year's celebration is "Innovation and technology for gender equality."

As the country prepares to take part in these commemorations, Women leaders under Joseph Kabuleta’s National Economic Empowerment Dialogue Political Party – NEED have come out to voice challenges faced by women in the country that they want the government to address ahead of this year’s Women’s Day Celebrations.

These stress that in this era, for example, lack of sanitary pads majority of women and girls shouldn’t be a topic of discussion during the public debate but rather the government ensuring that it is sorted with the urgency it deserves.

Mildred Angella Nabatanzi a women’s leader in the Lubaga division has now called out to women in key leadership positions to come out and interest themselves with concerns of the common woman as opposed to keeping a distance which she says limits women's empowerment.
