North Kigezi: Bishop Onesimus set to Ordain Sixteen as Deacons in May-2023.

Preparations are in high gear at Kinyasano Hill for the long awaited Ordination Day and maiden Ordination Service to be officiated by Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe. This is slated for Sunday 28th May 2023 at Emmanuel Cathedral –Kinyasano.

Celebrated Persons to be ordained include; Benson Amanya (Chaplain at Rukungiri Technical Institute-Kyamakanda), Haningtone Taremwa, Elias Niwagaba, Faith Ampumuza, Isabella Natwijuka, Edinah Arinaitwe, Alfred Murangira, Bitambo Denis, David Twongyeirwe, Edson Nabaasa, Martin Owoyesigire, Kwehangana Richard, Godfrey Byaruhanga, James Twongyeirwe, Bornan Mugiire and Fred Kweringa.

Their Pre-Ordination retreat alongside their spouses will kick off on Tuesday 23rd May and climax with taking canonical oaths on 27th May, 2023.It is should be noted that; selecting, ordaining and deploying of Deacons and Priests are part of the fundamental duties of a Bishop in any given Diocese. All this happens at the discretion of a Bishop in consultation with Diocesan Theological Commission and Diocesan Staff board.

One among the Ordinands to be admitted into the Holy Order of Deaconate [Amanya] acquired his ministerial formation training at Uganda Christian University Mukono. Five others attained training at Bishop Barham University College-Kabale. The rest were trained at the Diocesan Divinity College-Canon Ndimbirwe Bible College located at Kyamakanda Hill. It should be remembered that the last Ordination service was conducted in December 2020 at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano.

These Ordinands were set to be ordained in December 2021.Suddenly, their hopes were cut short by the demise of the 5th Bishop then, Benon Magezi who was promoted to glory in June same year. They have had to brave the weight and test of waiting for two years till the installation of the 6th Bishop.
