NRM Unity in Lango and Beyond: Dr. Tanga Odoi Calls for Loyalty and Support Ahead of 2026 Elections

NRM Unity in Lango and Beyond: Dr. Tanga Odoi Calls for Loyalty and Support Ahead of 2026 Elections

In a rallying call to strengthen the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) unity, Dr. Tanga Odoi, Chairman of the NRM Electoral Commission, has urged party supporters across the Lango sub-region and nationwide to remain loyal to the party as the 2026 elections approach. His message was clear: those who seek to use the NRM platform while maintaining ties to opposition parties will not receive support from the party.

Addressing supporters, Dr. Odoi emphasized that the ruling party will not endorse candidates who leverage NRM’s influence but are also affiliated with rivals. This call for loyalty comes in the context of a highly competitive political environment, especially in Lira City, where incumbent Health Minister Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng is preparing to face her significant opponent, UPC Minister Betty Amongi, in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The political scene is heating up across the country, with several aspirants vying for various seats under the NRM banner. Notable contenders include Stephen Mugabi in Nyabushozi County, Kiruhura; Stephen Mayende in Bukooli South; Diana Nassuna Maria Sempebwa in Kasese Municipality; and Daniel Mwebe Mpamizo in Buhaguzi, Kikuube District. Even sitting Members of Parliament like Alex Byarugaba Bakunda (Isingiro South) and Alioni Yorke Oodria (Aringa South) are contesting to retain their seats.

From east to west, the momentum is building, and the political landscape indicates a fierce battle ahead. The NRM leadership underscores the importance of unity and loyalty among its supporters to secure a resounding victory in the upcoming elections.
