Nyakabande Transit Camp Struggling To Isolate Positive COVID-19 Cases

Nyakabande refugee transit center in Kisoro district currently hosting over ten thousand Congolese refugees is short of isolation space COVID-19 patients.

Kisoro Resident District Commissioner, Hajji Shafique Ssekandi Ssengoba says 116 Congolese refugees were in isolation at the transit center after testing positive for COVID-19 by Sunday evening. Ssekandi stressed that the available space at the transit center accommodates only 100 patients yet the numbers have been increasing.
Philippe Creppy, the Assistant Representative for United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Operations says that the only solution to the space challenge is more funding from humanitarian agencies.
