Omusinga Mumbere Rallies Bakonzo in Kampala for Unity and Development: Rwenzururu Kingdom Unveils 2025–2030 Transformation Plan. Peace, Diaspora Support Key To Kingdom’s Future Growth

The Omusinga of Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu, Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema Ngoma, has called for unity, peace, and active diaspora involvement as the kingdom unveiled an ambitious five-year strategic plan aimed at driving socio-economic transformation and cultural development.

The Omusinga, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Agnes Itungo, was warmly received in Kampala by members of the Bakonzo community living in the city and surrounding areas.

Community members expressed appreciation to Yoweri Museveni for supporting the King, including allowing him to seek specialized medical treatment abroad. They emphasized that unity remains a cornerstone for development within the kingdom and the country at large.

The Bakonzo also commended ongoing efforts to rebrand the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu, noting that sustainable peace is critical for long-term progress. They urged the Omusinga to continue championing reconciliation and cohesion across the kingdom.

They further appealed for greater representation of the Bakonzo community in key government positions.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament-elect for Bukonzo East praised the King’s role in fostering unity, revealing that leaders recently met in Kyankwanzi to lobby for government support to revamp Kilembe Mines and improve healthcare services in the region.

The Prime Minister of the kingdom, Kule Benson Malitazali, said the visit was aimed at strengthening unity among the diaspora while outlining the kingdom’s strategic priorities for 2025 to 2030.

He also applauded government support, including annual scholarships for students from the kingdom, provision of vehicles to the Omusinga, and an enhanced monthly stipend.

Key highlights of the kingdom’s strategic plan include construction of a modern royal palace and residential facilities, establishment of a cultural tourism village, plans for a Rwenzururu university, and programs focused on preventing gender-based violence and improving maternal health.

In his address, the Omusinga urged members of the diaspora to actively contribute to the kingdom’s development and preservation of its cultural heritage.

He described the Obusinga bwa Rwenzururu as a divine gift, while expressing concern over the slow pace of constructing a befitting royal palace.

The visit marks a significant step in strengthening ties between the kingdom leadership and its people in urban areas, as efforts intensify to promote unity, peace, and inclusive development across the Rwenzururu Kingdom
