One Killed And Another Injured In An Attack By Suspected Thugs

RITAH

Shocking news emerged from Busia district where a man was brutally murdered and another left with injuries by unidentified suspects. The deceased, Mangeni Girisom, aged 56, was a businessman, and the injured individual, Sanya, were both from Bunyadeti village in Buhehe sub county.

According to reports, the deceased encountered a tragic fate last night during a night patrol at Bunyadet Trading Centre.

Kennedy Ouma, an eyewitness who was accompanying the deceased on a patrol, recounted being assaulted at midnight during their night patrol to safeguard the Bunyadet trading centre.

Wanyama Charles Hasubeni, the chairman of Buhehe sub-county LC3, has linked the incident to unemployed youths who are unwilling to work. He highlighted the issue of inadequate manpower for security, citing the presence of only three police officers in the sub-county.

One of the brothers of the deceased highlights that last week the deceased received some threats by some youths in the area who promised to murder him and was shocked this morning to hear about his brother’s death. He appealed to the relevant authorities to do a thorough investigation so that the suspects could face the law.

According to the Busia deputy RDC, Grace Kanuna, an investigation into the murder has been initiated by a police team. He acknowledges the difficulty they encounter due to multiple vulnerable areas that criminals exploit to evade capture and find sanctuary in Kenya.

By the time of filling this story, the deceased's body was being stored in the mortuary, while the individual with injuries was being treated at Masafu General Hospital, as the police proceeded with their investigations.
