Over 100,000 Candidates Start UACE Today

A total of 110,569 have kicked off their final Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) exams today, Monday, November, 13 in various centres around the country following UCE and PLE candidates who had earlier commenced their exams in October.

UNEB principal PRO, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba said the exams have started successfully without any interruptions.

The UACE exams will run until December 1 2023 and UNEB will take over to begin marking.

UACE exams are the last set of national exams sat by candidates exiting Secondary school in Uganda. This year, an increase in several UACE candidates was registered at 110,569 candidates compared to 97, 889 last year.

Speaking at Police headquarters, Naguru, UNEB principal PRO, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba noted that the candidates have successfully started their UACE exams today with arts candidates sitting history and science candidates having their mathematics exam.

She also mentioned that among the 2103 UNEB centres prepared for exams is the Upper Prison School, Lugazi which has prisoners ready to sit for their papers.

With the malpractice cases previously recorded during the UCE and PLE exams mostly pertaining provision of external assistance, Kalule resounded the warning for candidates, teachers, head teachers and all those involved in the process of exams to destrain from exam malpractice.

The UACE exams started on Friday, 10th November with a briefing, and are slated to end on 1st November 2023.
