
Over 1660 Students Graduate At Bishop Stuart University
A total of 1661 students yesterday graduated in different academic disciplines at Bishop Stuart University, at a function that was presided over by the Rt.Rev.Dr.Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa, university’s chancellor and Bishop of Ankole diocese
The 18th graduation ceremony which attracted thousands of people including students and their parents was held at the University grounds in Kakoba- Mbarara City.
Dr. Chris Baryomunsi minister for ICT and National Guidance was the chief guest representing the minister of education and sports Janet Kataha Museveni.
In her speech read by Baryomunsi, minister of education Janet Kataha Museveni applauded the board of trustees of Bishop Stuart University for sustaining the university for years and making great achievements. She also thanked the University for supporting the government effort in the provision of higher education to its people. She also urged them to invest in research.
She challenged universities to embrace regional integration and play an active role by welcoming equal treatment to all students from within the region. She also urged them to deliver work-class services to the students.
In his speech, Bishop Sheldon congratulated students but urged them to be innovative and be good leaders who should always go the way show the way of Jesus Christ.
Prof.Keneth Kagame- the University chair council thanked parents for the heavy expenditure incurred in the education of their children. He noted that in the 20 years, the university has achieved a lot including getting a charter and infrastructure development.
1661 students were awarded degrees, diplomas, masters, and PhDs in different academic disciplines. They included 2 PhDs, 43 masters, 119 postgraduate diplomas, 1088 bachelors, 363 diplomas, and 46 certificates.
