Palm Sunday Celebrated in Bugolobi with a Powerful Call to Faith and Truth

On Palm Sunday, Christians from Bugolobi and surrounding areas gathered in large numbers to commemorate Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Waving palm branches and crying out, “Hosanna: save us, Lord,” the congregation set a hopeful and reverent tone for the celebration at the Church of Resurrection.

The service, led by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, was vibrant and impactful, bringing together hundreds of worshippers. In his stirring sermon grounded in Numbers 23:19, Archbishop Kaziimba emphasized the truthfulness of Jesus, stating, “Unlike human beings, Jesus is not a man that he should lie.” His message resonated deeply as he critiqued the hypocrisy and deceit prevalent in society, urging believers to stand firm in truth rather than shifting blame.

Drawing parallels between the fickle nature of the crowd that welcomed Jesus with shouts of “Hosanna” and later cried “Crucify Him,” the Archbishop reminded the faithful of the importance of steadfastness in their faith, even in challenging times.

In addition to his powerful message, Archbishop Kaziimba quoted Jeremiah 33:3, calling the congregation to actively seek God’s guidance. He underscored the vital importance of prayer and spiritual reliance in navigating societal challenges.

Rev. Emmanuel Kalagala, the Vicar of the Church of the Resurrection, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate this year’s Palm Sunday. He thanked God for the gift of life and faith and extended appreciation to Archbishop Kaziimba for honoring the service with his presence.

Reflecting on the cries of “Hosanna,” Rev. Kalagala pointed out that many believers today, much like those in biblical times, are lifting their voices to the Lord, burdened by the challenges of corruption and exploitation in society.

As the service drew to a close, the overarching message resonated: amidst a world filled with broken promises and false hopes, Jesus remains the unwavering Savior—faithful, just, and ever ready to respond to a sincere call for help.
