Parents Should Use Holidays To Shape Their Children – Rev. Hillary Jaffu

Ritah.

Children struggle to get an education, and many households in Uganda have failed to take their children to schools not only due to domestic violence or poverty but also the negligence of some parents to play their role in their children’s lives.

Rev. Jaff Hillary the assistant provost of All Saints Cathedral Kampala has called upon all parents to give rights for all children access to education such that they can have a great future.

Education is a basic human right for all and is important for everyone to make the most of their lives.

Education helps one to access all of their other human rights. It improves one’s chances in life and helps open up their thinking to fight poverty.

Rev Jaff Hillary the assistant provost at All Saints Cathedral Kampala says that as parents they ought to give education to all their children since they are the leaders of tomorrow. He adds that parents also have a role to play in the shaping of their children’s future by guiding them more during this holiday season.

He added that most of the children are faced with a lot of challenges at school and yet they are not guided on what to do, which is to be blamed for the bad morals among many young children now.

Sendi Edward a 53-year-old father of 6 children in his opinion explained on how parents should prepare their children when it’s time for school, he says that children need to be treated with love.

On the issue of the unaffordability of schools by parents, Sendi has called upon the Ministry of Education to give a hand to ensure that all schools lower their fees such that parents can be able to take back their children

These have called upon the government to help them get out of the streets and have access to education

Research has it that School dropout rates in Uganda are high, with about 45% of primary school children and 30% of secondary school children dropping out before completing their education with Poverty being a major factor followed by Child labour and domestic violence among others.
