Police Partners Wuth Hongera Saana To Avert Counterterrorism

The fight against terrorism continues to take center stage as government efforts intensify to address the root cause. In a renewed mobilization drive, the Office of the President launched the Hongera Saana offices aimed at empowering citizens and promoting peace and development.

The fight against terrorism has been a soaring problem in the country for years due to failure in driving the point to which it stems from, and citizens have been urged to engage in activities to end poverty, decreasing the terrorist activities in the country. This was echoed during the launch of the HONGERA SANA offices at the Office of the President today.

Hongera Saana is a presidential mobilization body dedicated to fostering peace, stability, and development in our nation with a mission to empower communities, build partnerships, and support initiatives.

The community-based organization has partnered with police through an agriculture development initiative aimed at empowering people with a fight against terrorism.

The National Coordinator, Hongera Saana Ashraf Muyomba, believes that through such initiatives, police and security organs can be supported to end terrorism in the country.

He believes that through the wealth creation schemes, terrorism can be put to an end.

AIGP Wasswa David Ssengendo, director of the counterterrorism unit at the Uganda police, pledged support to the Presidential Body for Peace and Mobilisation for Development as an avenue of engaging communities to fight terrorism.

AIGP Wasswa David Ssengendo asserted that there is a need to use a wholistic approach by all involved stakeholders towards preventing the acts of crime.

The initiate will be tasked to mobilize citizens through development to fight terrorism.
