Pope Wants Death Sentence Removed From Anti Homosexuality Act

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja is in Rome,  where she met the Holy Father Pope Francis in the Vatican.

Nabbanja was ushered in with her Delegation to the Vatican and had a closed-door meeting with the pope for only 25 minutes and they discussed a number of issues. we have the report.

After the one-on-one meeting with the Holy Father   Pope Francis, prime minister Nabbanja said they discussed a wide range of issues including the Refugee situation in Uganda and the recently passed Law on Anti Homosexuality.

Nabbanja also says that the Pope lauds the government of Uganda for its open-door policy to refugees to help mankind.

However, Nabbanja says that the Pontiff welcomed the new law of Anti homosexuality but asked for a review to deal with the death sentence.

The Prime minister also met the Cardinal in charge of administration at the Vatican to discuss ways of helping the country manage refugees and also develop the Namugongo Holy Shrine.

In a related development, the Prime minister met several investment companies based in Italy under their umbrella organisation, the General Federation of Italian Industry (Confindustria).

The prime minister who was flanked by the executive director of Uganda Investment Authority Dr Robert Mukiza told the investors that Uganda is a hub for investment in East and Central Africa.

During the meeting that took place at the headquarters of the Federation in Rome Italy, Nabbanja briefed the investors about the investment opportunities in Uganda.

Nabbanja says that Uganda is peaceful with infrastructure already in place for any potential investor.

Robert Mukiza, the executive director of Uganda Investment Authority assured the investors of good policies and the availability of a skilled workforce that is young.

Mukiza says that Uganda is one of the top investment destinations in the world especially in green investment and asked Italian companies to come and invest in the country.

The President of the General Federation of Italian Industries Massimo Dal Checco.

Says that it was a good opportunity to meet the Prime minister and her delegation and expressed willingness to help Italian Industries to invest in Uganda.

Several companies expressed their willingness to invest in Uganda during the meeting ranging from mechanical engineering, Financial Services, the metal industry, oil and gas and telecommunications.

The federation supports Italian industries operating in African and Middle East countries.

The Prime Minister met the Pontiff Pope Francis and discussed how to help Refugees in Uganda.

Nabbanja also had a meeting with the Cardinal in charge of the Vatican Administration and discussed various issues ranging from support to the Refugee community and also supporting Uganda’s Martyrs shrine in Namugongo.

Tomorrow the Prime minister and her delegation will visit De Lorenzo in Milan Italy for benchmarking and experience sharing.
