The pioneer edition of this exhibition will be the gateway to the East African Business Community in Uganda. Exhibitors from around 5 countries and more will be participating in this exhibition looking to explore the untapped potential of the East Africa Market.
Power & Electricity International is planning a three-day exhibition in Uganda. This entity provides an immense opportunity to capture the untapped market of power and energy in the East African Region.
Vijayanka Brighuvanshi, Director of Sales And Marketing at Power & Electricity International says the upcoming exhibition has seen other stakeholders like Trade Services India Private Limited and the local associations and bodies based in Uganda come together for this cause.
97% of Uganda’s Exports in Africa are to countries in the East African Community and COMESA regions and Uganda has seen an increase of 20% in the total imports in recent years. However, Uganda’s electricity demand has been growing at an average of 10% per annum.
Eng. Birimumaso David the Assistant Commissioner For Energy Efficiency in the ministry cites some of the external and internal challenges faced by the electricity sector giving an example of people who illegally connect electricity.
Eng. Birimumaso adds that Uganda has many renewable energy resources like bioenergy, water/hydro, solar and others that can be used for energy production and energy services. He points out that many of these resources remain untapped like the Karuma hydropower dam which is 85 per cent funded by the Exim Bank of China and 15 per cent by the government.
