President Museveni Applauds Bundibugyo’s Self-Driven Transformation

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has applauded the people of Bundibugyo District for their self-driven transformation through agriculture. While on a PDM monitoring visit to the region, the president praised residents for embracing profitable ventures like cocoa and palm oil farming without waiting for government intervention.

During his visit to Bundibugyo District yesterday, President Museveni commended locals for independently adopting cocoa and palm oil farming—learning from neighboring Congo rather than waiting for external support.

The President was speaking at the farm of Mr. Bernard Kacuro, a model farmer in Kanyantuwa Cell, Buganikere Town Council. Mr. Kacuro earns around Shs 430 million annually from 15 acres of land—12 under cocoa and 3 under palm oil.

Mr. Kacuro has also ventured into fish farming. The president pledged support from the Ministry of Agriculture to boost this project, alongside providing a Fuso truck and Shs 12 million for his dairy project.

Museveni further committed to donating solar dryers for cocoa cooperatives and announced plans to partner with Uganda Development Corporation to establish a government cocoa processing factory.

The president highlighted progress in rural infrastructure and promised to prioritize clean water access for Bundibugyo.

In attendance were ICT Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, local leaders, and Parish Development Model beneficiaries.
