President Museveni Emphasizes Link Between Wealth, Peace, and Development During PDM Tour in Uganda
President Museveni Stresses Harmony of Wealth Creation, Peace, and Development During Grassroots Tour
As Uganda advances its Parish Development Model (PDM) initiative across various districts, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reaffirmed a vital national principle: wealth creation, peace, and development must go hand in hand to secure lasting prosperity in the country.
During his recent tour in Kasanje, President Museveni commended grassroots leaders and youth programs for their tangible contributions to community progress. From boosting agriculture in Sheema District to empowering young people in Kalerwe through sports and entrepreneurship, the PDM’s impact is visibly growing.
In Kasanje, the President lauded Hon. Jacklet Atuhaire, Woman Member of Parliament for Sheema District, for her unwavering dedication to promoting sustainable farming practices. He specifically praised her efforts in facilitating the four-acre model, which encourages smallholder farmers to adopt more productive methods. President Museveni urged the public to actively participate in agriculture, emphasizing its role as a foundation for wealth and peace.
Hon. Jacklet Atuhaire expressed her gratitude, highlighting her work both in Parliament and at the grassroots level to support farmers and improve livelihoods.
The President's visit to Kalerwe saw enthusiastic youth receiving support tailored to their aspirations. He donated gym and boxing equipment to the Kalerwe Boxing Club, equipping young people with skills in sports and also encouraging entrepreneurship. To foster small business growth, the President provided UGX 10 million as start-up capital, empowering youth to transform their passion into sustainable livelihoods.
Priscilla Mwirumubi, a local hair salon owner and beneficiary of the government’s Emyooga program in Entebbe, shared her success story, highlighting how SACCOs have played a pivotal role in transforming her livelihood. Several beneficiaries echoed her sentiments, calling for additional funding to sustain their businesses.
President Museveni concluded by emphasizing that genuine development and durable peace can only be realized through inclusive wealth creation. He reiterated that economic initiatives must prioritize the participation of all, especially the youth and vulnerable groups, for Uganda’s long-term stability and prosperity.
As the PDM tour continues, it becomes clear that grassroots efforts and government support are vital ingredients in building a united, peaceful, and prosperous Uganda.
