
Prioritize Science, Bunyoro Locals Urged
Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of the Abagaya clan that was organized at Whispering Gardens in Fort Portal City, Tooro King Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru in his first visit to the clans in his kingdom challenged parents to embrace imparting cultural norms an values amongst the young generation
“Clans are foundations for our kingdom, if you celebrate like this,
you connect and teach our children their clans.’’
“I came up with a plan to visit all clans in the kingdom and am glad the Abagaya clan are the first people to welcome me.’’
The king also called on his subjects to conserve the environment as the only way to combat climate change.
“I challenge you all people of Toro to conserve the environment.’’
The clan members say this is an annual meeting that aims to address key issues of development such as environmental conservation, forming savings and cooperative
groups among others.
“Digging dams in our swamps for a sustainable environment and fighting malnutrition.’’
“We hear these things in stories but they may also come to us if we don’t protect the environment.’’
Alex Ruhunda, the Fort Portal Central division Member of Parliament emphasized the need for stronger clans saying this can be a driving force for the kingdom.
“The kingdom bases itself on a strong foundation of the clan, if the clans become weak, even the kingdom falls.’’
