Prof. Tumusiime Mutebile Memorial Lecture
Bank of Uganda has held the first memorial lecture in honour of its immediate former Governor, the late Prof. Emmanuel, Tumusiime Mutebile who passed on in January 2022.
President Yoweri Museveni, who was the guest of honour at the event at the Kampala Serena Hotel, hailed Mutebile for his long service in government as a senior economist behind many monetary and fiscal policy reforms for national development.
This held under the theme; The Legacy of Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime - Mutebile and its Implications for the Current Economic Challenges facing Uganda and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Some of the guest speakers at the event included Abebe Selasssie, the Director of the Africa Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Dr. Donald Kaberuka, the Chairman of the Global Fund and Dr. Patrick Njoroge, the Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.
