RCC Petitions Ministry over Anomalies
The deputy Resident City commissioner for Rubaga division Anderson Burora has petitioned ministry of internal affairs asking them to deny visas to 5 Kampala capital city Authority officials who engaged in anomalies he discovered that sorrounded the compensation of Lubigi drainage construction victims.
Speaking to the press at his offices Burora declined to reveal names but noted that they have got information that those who engaged in these illegal compensations are planning to run out of the country yet their investigations pin them.
He says that during the compensation process real victims were neglected and have not been paid, yet KCCA officials have always been compensating people hence demanding KCCA to release a list of people they compensated, he therefore decided to petition ministry of internal affairs to deny those officials visas to flee the country.
The Lubigi drainage construction project is under World Bank funded by Kampala Infrastructure Institutions Development project and government of Uganda.
World Bank provided USD183.7m to KCCA to conduct studies, carry out engineering works, construction of drainage, roads and capacity building. KCCA had to start construction works in 2017 but compensations around the Nakamiro channel were misconducted and stalled the project.
He also revealed that this year they are to focus on carrying out thorough operations on illegal buildings built without plans and also ensure that Rubaga division revenue increases to over 13bn shillings.
