Rotaract Club Of Cape Munyonyo Takes Action: Planting Seeds Of Change For A Greener Future
In a bid to combat climate change, the Rotaract Club of Cape Munyonyo is taking action to address environmental concerns in the community.
Recognizing the lack of awareness about conservation and its benefits, they organized a tree planting and distribution event at Namungo in Mityana district, where over 3000 trees were given to residents.
They emphasized the importance of nurturing these trees to combat deforestation, a problem exacerbated by poverty-driven logging.
The changing climate in Uganda can be attributed to various factors, and deforestation is one of them. To tackle this issue, the Rotaract Club of Cape Munyonyo has taken the initiative to raise awareness and educate the public about the detrimental effects of neglecting the environment. As part of their efforts, they recently organized a tree planting and distribution event in Namungo, Mityana district on Saturday. During this event, more than 3000 trees were distributed to the residents.
Kizito Tadeo, the village chairman of Lunyola, expressed gratitude for the trees, acknowledging that poverty often drives locals to engage in logging.
Agaba Isac, the president Rotaract Club of Cape Munyonyo, urged those who were given the young seeds to take good care of them as it may help to improve the heat wave that various countries are going through
Drawing attention to a crucial matter, Agaba underscored the need for increased awareness. He pointed out that many Ugandans lack the necessary knowledge to prioritize environmental stewardship over financial gain.
In addition to various activities, the Rotaract Club of Cape Munyonyo also donated blood, resulting in a collection of 50 units of blood. Rogers Mukono, the head of the Red Cross in Mityana, acknowledged the challenges they face in gathering blood from the region, primarily due to a lack of awareness regarding the significance of blood donation.
In addition to tree planting, the club educated the community on sustainable practices, such as reducing plastic usage and promoting paper alternatives. They also addressed the importance of blood donation, with a focus on reaching underserved populations.
Through these initiatives, the Rotaract Club of Cape Munyonyo aims to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and community engagement, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
