Safety And Security, An Insight On The Status Of Security In Uganda

Earlier this month, multiple security organizations, including the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, Internal Security Organization, Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce, and Directorate of Crime Intelligence had apprehended six suspects in connection with a series of bomb discoveries in Kampala.

This terror attack put the nation in suspense and citizens started doubting their safety after Uganda police foiled a bomb attack at Rubaga Cathedral in Kampala.

However, the President later in a national address assured citizens of maximum security in the country.

Today in our Citizen's Brief, we talk to Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye about the state of security following the recent threats.

Many Ugandans are traumatized by the terror threats that are happening in the country with many questions unanswered. Should a country that offers security support to its neighbors really fail to handle its own security...?

Today many questions are to be attempted by Brig. Gen Felix Kulayigye the UPDF Spokesperson.

When asked about the long time the UPDF army is spending in DRC, Gen Kulayigye says operations like shujja can never be timely. This comes after Uganda and DRC renewed a contract for Operation Shuja

But how would rebels penetrate through into a country whose security is so tight?

The Spokesperson highlighted some of the methods these terrorists use in order to access Uganda.

Gen Felix calls upon Ugandans to always be extra cautious, especially with new people who appear in their communities and also collaborate with the security organizations. (don’t voice)

Previous terrorist and disrupted attacks in Uganda have targeted the security forces, places where football matches were viewed from, restaurants, buses, and government buildings.

People are therefore called upon to be extra vigilant while around such places.
