Security Forces Seal Off Anita Among’s Parliament Office: CID Detectives Raid Speaker’s Wing Amid Corruption Investigations. Access to Fifth Floor Restricted as Parliament Offices Turn into A

Tension and uncertainty engulfed Parliament today after joint security forces and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) sealed off offices linked to former Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among as part of ongoing corruption investigations targeting top parliamentary officials.

The operation, which also extended to the office of the Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige, temporarily transformed the fifth floor of Parliament into a heavily guarded restricted zone as investigators conducted searches and scrutinized documents within the premises.

A heavy security deployment was witnessed at Parliament this morning after detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate, backed by armed security personnel, carried out a coordinated operation targeting offices associated with former Speaker Anita Annet Among.

The operation follows ongoing investigations into alleged corruption and financial impropriety involving senior parliamentary officials.

Security officers sealed off corridors leading to the Speaker’s wing, denying access to staff, journalists, and other non-essential personnel as investigators combed through offices believed to be relevant to the inquiry.

The fifth floor of Parliament remained under tight security for several hours, with movement heavily restricted to prevent interference with what authorities described as an active investigation scene.

The doors leading to the wing were pasted with notices reading “Crime Scene. Do not Cross “. Staff attached to Among’s office were blocked from accessing the premises.

During the operation, Caleb Alaka, one of the lawyers representing former Speaker Anita Among, was seen arriving at Parliament amid the ongoing search.’

Journalists attempted to obtain details regarding the nature of the investigations and the purpose of the operation, but Alaka declined to disclose further information, indicating that an official statement would be issued later.

The search operation also reportedly extended to the office of Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige, although by press time, security agencies had not yet released an official statement explaining the specific scope of the investigations or whether any documents or exhibits had been recovered.

On Sunday, Former Speaker Annet Among through the Her X account withdrew from the speakership race for the 12th Parliament amid investigations of her lavish lifestyle and corruption.

The developments come at a time of heightened political tension and growing public scrutiny over corruption allegations involving senior government officials and parliamentary leadership.

By press time, the operation was still ongoing, with investigators maintaining a strong security presence around the affected offices as Parliament staff and legislators closely monitored the unfolding situation.
