St John’s Makerere Parish Women Celebrate Mary Magdalene Day

JOHN BAPTIST

Today Women of St. John’s Makerere Parish under their Umbrella of Christian Women Fellowship have converged at Holy Trinity, Makerere Kivvulu to celebrate the Mary Magdalene day.

During the same event, eight women were enrolled into the Christian Women Fellowship whose foundation dates back in 1905.

They expressed gratitude for the day and also explained why it is worth celebrating among the Christian Women.

Founded in 1905, and 1997 in All Saint Church, Christian Women Fellowship is a non-discriminatory ministry which unites all Christian Women, young, old, married, unmarried, or widowed to uphold the world wide fellowship of Christian Women in prayer, worship and service.

Today, these women under St. John’s Makerere Parish joined hands to celebrate Mary Magdalene Day, in a function held at Holy Trinity, Makerere Kivvulu.

During the same event, 8 women were enrolled into the Christian Women Fellowship amidst making vows of allegiance.

Speaking to the media, Mrs. Maureen Bukenya a professional Counselling Psychologist and preacher of the day explained about this year’s theme “Church a community of love” which was derived from Romans 12. She however says this love starts with ourselves and later to others.

Maureen urged women to emulate Mary Magdalene through the acts of love, truthfulness, humility and have a consistent love for Christ.

She finally appealed to all Christian women to strive in nurturing children saying this is another way their love for Christ can be expressed.

Rev. Ellon K. Mugumya the Priest in charge at Holy Trinity Church in Makerere Kivvulu explained why Mary Magdalene day is worth celebrating.

Rev. Ellon advised Christian women to stay committed to God by letting their light shine beyond the Christian Women Fellowship.
