Student Patriots Encouraged To Support Community Safety:Leaders Say Patriotism Training Is Building Responsible Citizens.Headteachers Raise Concern Over Low Student Participation.
The Resident District Commissioner of Amuria has urged newly passed-out student patriots to play an active role in promoting community safety, security, and positive values.
The appeal was made during the district patriotism pass-out ceremony, which brought together students from secondary schools and vocational training institutions across Amuria District.
The week-long patriotism program attracted more than 2,600 students from 21 secondary schools and four vocational training institutions across Amuria District. The pass-out ceremony was officiated by the resident district commissioner, Paul Eseru.
District Patriotism Coordinator James Aminu said the training is aimed at equipping young people with patriotism, discipline, leadership, and civic responsibility to enable them to contribute positively to their communities and the nation.
The District Police Commander, SP Peter Oyesigye, urged the graduates to uphold discipline, obey the law, and remain committed to promoting peace and security in their schools and communities.
The Chairperson of the Amuria Secondary Schools Headteachers Association, Peter Ocaga, welcomed the program but expressed concern over the low participation of some schools, calling for increased involvement in future patriotism training.
One of the participants, Mariam Atubo, who served as the Student Patriots Parade Commander from Amuria Secondary School, described the training as beneficial, saying it had strengthened her leadership skills, confidence, and commitment to serving her community.
The pass-out ceremony was hosted by Amuria Secondary School, Wera Secondary School, and Starlight Secondary School, with leaders expressing confidence that the graduates will use the knowledge and values acquired to promote responsible citizenship and community development.
