Sunday Service Roundup: Christians Urged To Be Obedient And Live Righteous Lives. Believers Encouraged to Spread the Gospel
Christians gathered in worship today under powerful themes of hope, obedience, revival and mission. From young voices leading praise to messages on faithfulness, self-investment, and the call to spread the Gospel, believers were urged to remain steadfast in their walk with God.
Preachers emphasised patience in God’s promises, resisting temptation, investing in spiritual and personal growth, and living as true witnesses of Christ’s resurrection.
Pupils from Newfield International School led today’s service at the All-Saints’ Cathedral, Kampala, taking charge of praise and worship.
The theme of the service was “Hope in Christ, the steadfast anchor”, drawn from Hebrews 6:17–20. Christians were encouraged to remain faithful and steadfast in their walk with God despite life’s challenges. The message emphasised maintaining hope, focusing on God, and patiently trusting in His promises for their lives.
Over at Namirembe Cathedral, Kampala Christians were taught about the importance of being obedient and faithful believers who walk in the way of righteousness. They were encouraged to put their trust in God, to avoid all forms of temptation, and to cultivate Godly friendships. The message also emphasised the importance of constantly giving thanks to God for His provision and blessings in their lives.
At St. Stephen's Kisugu Church of Uganda, Kampala, the theme “Principles of Self-Investment” was shared by Mr Samuel A. Bakutana, based on Exodus 31:1–11 and Matthew 25:14–30.
Christians were encouraged to grow spiritually and financially, to manage their resources wisely, and to always seek God’s guidance in their decisions. Men were also urged to invest in self-development and personal growth.
At Kakumba Chapel, Kyambogo, the theme of the day was “Risen and Appearing to Revive.” Ordinand Witness Ainomugisha encouraged Christians to surrender their lives to Christ, obey His voice, and walk in obedience that leads to revival. Referring to the story of the fishermen, believers were urged to “cast their nets,” heed God’s guidance, and trust Him to bring renewal and restoration.
At St. Francis Chapel, Makerere University, the theme of the day was “The Resurrection and Mission: Go and Tell.” Christians were taught about the resurrection of Christ and encouraged to spread the Gospel, leading non-believers to Christ. It was emphasised that to be God’s witnesses, one must fully devote one's life to Jesus Christ.
