
Talent Identification Possibility In Uganda
Despite unemployment rates shooting at 12 percent in 2021 in Uganda, long term unemployment has been registered at 47%. According Henry Kibirige, a human resource consultant specialist, critical gaps remain matching talent skill set to employment opportunities.
He highlights that there are different problems faced by employees and employers in workspaces in searching for talents. These when not given attention when considering employment lead to long term unproductivity.
According to the National Labour Force Survey of 2021, discouragement is the main reason for 45% of Ugandan population for not looking for work despite the availability. The unemployment rate was recorded at 12 percent in 2021. Relatedly, long term unemployment (over one year) was registered at 47%.
Accordingly, Henry Kibirige, a human resource consultant and CEO SOFOS says that factors that are not limited to personalities and temperaments can make one succeed or fail in a workspace.
Meanwhile, Verbatoria Talent Quotient Uganda, an international organization in Uganda is helping the public identify their talents through brain wave test.
Kasenene says career must match with talent to have the best human capital. He says, more than 100 people have been tested since 2021 and two have had their breakthroughs.
He adds that mindset is one of the challenges that they have faced in the process of having public take up the innovation. In a world of job scarcity, one needs to find out what they love and focus to get the best out of it.
