Transportation, A Barrier To Access Health Care In Kagadi
A total of ten Babies were born at Kagadi General Hospital on Christmas day with mothers giving their neonates names similar to Jesus Christ. Of the ten babies, six were boys while 4 were girls.
Maureen Kikanshemeza, and Kayesu Alice, mothers from Ruteete and Mpefu sub-counties said they named their babies Emmanuel Twinomujuni because they were born on Christmas day.
Scola Kyarikunda, a mid-wife at Kagadi General Hospital has however noted with concern the poor transport network from rural areas which is affecting mothers who fail to access health care.
Emily Mushabe and Twebaze Doreen, care takers of expectant mothers at this facility take pride in their job, stressing that the hospital is a savior to may who can’t afford private health facilities.
Kagadi General Hospital was established in 1967, but today it has no an ambulance, X-ray and still suffering medical staff shortage.
The facility serves hundreds of patients from Kibaale, Kagadi, Kakumiro, Kikuube, Kyenjojo, Ntoroko, and some parts of Hoima.
