Uganda’s Growing Youth Population Presents Both Opportunities, Development Challenges:Investment In Skills, Technology And Human Capital Is Key To Improving Productivity.Government And Partne

Uganda’s growing youthful population remains at the center of discussions on how the country can achieve sustainable economic growth. Government and development partners say investments in human capital, technology, and skills development are critical in turning the population advantage into productivity.

Uganda’s youthful population presents a major opportunity for economic transformation, but experts say this potential can only be achieved when young people are equipped with the right skills and opportunities.

The United Nations Population Fund says Uganda must address challenges affecting young people, including teenage pregnancies, which continue to limit education and workforce participation among many young women.

The agency added that stronger partnerships are needed to expand youth health, education, and professional skilling programs as Uganda works to build a productive workforce.

The minister says improving productivity remains central to Uganda’s development agenda, with technology playing a key role in transforming the country’s workforce.

The government says continued investment in education, healthcare, social services, and empowerment programs remains important in reducing poverty and improving livelihoods.

As Uganda’s population continues to grow, the focus remains on equipping young people with the skills, technology, and opportunities needed to transform the country’s demographic advantage into sustainable economic growth.
