Uganda Civil Aviation Holds Search And Rescue Training In Kanungu
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has conducted community sensitization training on aircraft search and rescue in Kanungu District. The training aimed at equipping residents with the skills and techniques needed to respond effectively in the event of an aviation accident, including rescuing victims and promptly communicating with relevant authorities.
The exercise brought together local leaders, residents, security officials, and community members. According to Owomukama Fredrick, the Principal in charge of Aircraft Operations and Safety at UCAA, it is the Authority’s mandate to ensure the population is well-trained on matters of search and rescue, noting that community preparedness is paramount for national safety.
Kanungu Resident District Commissioner Mwesigye Ambrose applauded the initiative, emphasizing its importance given the presence of an airdrome in the district. He noted that such training enhances community readiness and strengthens coordination during emergencies.
