Uganda Seeks To Scale Up Energy Access Through Technology And Innovation:Power Expo Brings Together Global Players To Showcase Energy Solutions.Government Calls For Investment In Renewable En

Government, investors, manufacturers, and energy sector players have gathered at the UMA Show Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala, for the Fourth Power & Elec Uganda International Expo, held under the theme “Scaling Energy 10X: Technology, Sustainability, and Global Impact." the State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro shed a light on the strength and impact the energy sector illuminates unto the socio-economic sector

 

The three-day exhibition is showcasing innovations in the power and renewable energy sector aimed at addressing growing energy demand, promoting investment, and strengthening partnerships. 

 

Energy sector players from Uganda and beyond have converged at the UMA Show Grounds in Lugogo for the Fourth Power & Elec Uganda International Expo.

The exhibition has brought together policymakers, investors, manufacturers, innovators, and technology providers to showcase the latest solutions in power generation, renewable energy, solar systems, batteries, transformers, cables, and other electrical technologies.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, the State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, said the government views energy as a key driver of industrialization, job creation, and socio-economic transformation.

She said Uganda is focusing on expanding energy infrastructure, promoting renewable energy solutions, and attracting partnerships that support technology transfer, innovation, and local value addition.

The ministry says Uganda is implementing long-term plans to expand electricity generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure while increasing access to reliable and affordable power through grid expansion, mini-grids, and off-grid renewable energy solutions.

 

 

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the permanent secretary, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, the ministry representative highlighted the government's plans to increase generation capacity, strengthen the national grid, and create a favorable environment for investment in the energy sector.

 

 

 

The Uganda Manufacturers Association says the Power & Elec Uganda International Expo has continued to grow since its first edition and is providing a platform for local and international companies to showcase technologies, build partnerships, and support Uganda’s energy ambitions.

 

 

The Electricity Regulatory Authority says Uganda’s increasing electricity demand requires accelerated investment in modern technologies, stronger infrastructure, and innovative solutions to improve the reliability and efficiency of power supply.

 

 

The Uganda National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Alliance says private sector participation remains critical in expanding clean energy solutions and improving energy efficiency across the country.

 

 

The Fourth Power & Elec Uganda International Expo runs from 9th to 11th July 2026 at the UMA Show Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala, with participants expected to explore new technologies, investment opportunities, and partnerships shaping Uganda’s energy future.
