Uganda to Host Historic Pan-African Summit on Peace and Development

Uganda is set to host a landmark Pan-African summit, the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), from July 18th to 21st at the luxurious Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort. This high-level event aims to foster dialogue among key leaders from across the continent, bringing together Speakers of Parliament and Presidents of Legislatures from all 54 African countries.

Titled the Historic Pan-African Summit on Peace & Development, the conference will focus on addressing regional conflicts through meaningful dialogue and exploring strategic opportunities for sustainable development across Africa.

Hon. Wilfred Kanya, Uganda’s representative to the conference, expressed optimism about the event’s positive impact, emphasizing that it will significantly boost Uganda’s international profile. "This summit will not only highlight Uganda’s vital role in regional stability but will also attract investment, foster economic growth, and stimulate local tourism and hospitality sectors," he said.

The summit underscores Uganda’s commitment to promoting peace, unity, and development on the continent, setting the stage for strengthened cooperation among African nations.
