
Ugx 22Bn Water Project Prematurely Commissioned In Kagadi
Kagadi district piped water project was funded by African Development Bank in conjunction with the government of Uganda cost 22.8 billion shillings and will serve a total of 150,000 people in four town councils of Kagadi, Kyenzige, Muhorro and Ruteete.
While speaking on behalf of Permanent secretary Ministry of water and environment, Eng. Paul Kato, the Manager Water and sanitation Development facility has said that some water pipes have been found vandalized.
The contractor Samcrete Company Sidney Richard says the two year contract was extended to four years due to COVID-19 but it has been completed and all the necessary reports and equipment handed over to Mid-western umbrella water and sanitation.
The MP for Buyaga East Eric Musana cautioned wrong doers against vandalizing water equipment like pipes and boreholes saying that the act affects the entire community members.
The Deputy RDC Kagadi Benjamin Tumusiime also expressed concern over destruction of wetlands and eco-system by farmers neighboring water sources.
Although it has been commissioned, residents from the four town councils have shown dissatisfaction saying that it was premature.
