UNEB Cautions Public On Leaking Fake Papers Ahead Of PLE Start

The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has announced that schools across the country are ready to have the over 400,000 PLE candidates sit for their exams that start tomorrow, 7th November, 2023 with briefing.
UNEB’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, reassured the public that there have been no cases of leaked papers within their system, although there have been alarming attempts to distribute papers, falsely claiming to be from the board.

As Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) commences tomorrow, 7th November, 2023 with briefing, Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has expressed readiness, with 479,347 candidates expected to sit for the exams. The primary seven candidates will be the second group of students to start their exams after UCE first started in October.
UNEB Principal Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba went on to assure the public that they have not registered any leakages of exam papers at UCE level except a few attempts of aiding, abetting malpractice, among others and the suspects have been arrested.

Cautioning the public against malpractice, Kalule highlighted the case of a one, Okwenyi Tom, reportedly working with a multinational agency who was arrested because he had been extorting money from teachers and parents, sharing false PLE papers under codenames, in platforms that converged over 1500 followers.

UNEB further sternly cautioned school head teachers against registering privately registered candidates into government school systems for papers because it deprives the schools of funds.

Following the arrest of Kisugu High School Director of Schools, Kasolo Celestine who locked up five UCE candidates who missed their Biology paper last week due to unpaid fees balances, she emphasized that such students should not be stopped from sitting for the exams, reminding school authorities that such acts are punishable by law.

Kalule Musamba called on parents, students and school authorities to work together and ensure adequate briefing is carried on tomorrow, as a measure of curbing malpractice. PLE starts tomorrow 7th November, and ends on 9th November, 2023.
