UPDF Mourns Late Maj. Gen. Christopher Kazoora, Laid to Rest in Nakaseke
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) paid tribute to the late Major General (Rtd) Christopher Kazoora, describing him as a selfless patriot and a distinguished officer who dedicated his life to Uganda’s service. During burial rites at his ancestral home in Nakaseke District, the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, extolled Kazoora’s bravery, discipline, and loyalty, calling him a true hero of the nation.
Key remarks were delivered on behalf of Gen. Muhoozi by Lt. Gen. Sam Kavuma, Commander of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), at Luwama village, Kinyongoga Sub-county, Nakaseke District. Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Christopher Kazoora passed away on January 9, 2026, at Nakasero Hospital after a period of illness.
In his message, Gen. Muhoozi lauded Kazoora as a courageous soldier who spent decades defending Uganda. He expressed gratitude for Kazoora’s unwavering patriotism, discipline, and loyalty, noting that the country had lost a notable leader.
Catherine Nyambuhoro Kazoora, the widow, described her late husband as a loving and devoted partner with whom she shared 38 years of marriage marked by mutual respect and sacrifice. She also thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the UPDF, and well-wishers for their support during his illness and in the days of mourning.
The burial was attended by senior UPDF officers, government officials, political leaders, religious leaders, family members, friends, and Nakaseke residents, all gathered to honor the fallen general.
